Goats’ death leads to panther scare

May 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - VELLORE:

The scare of a panther on the prowl gripped the villagers of Chinnathamalseruvu near Pernambut.

Two goats in the village were found dead, allegedly on being bitten by a wild animal in the early hours of Wednesday.

Even as the villages claimed that the goats were killed by a panther, a team led by Krishnan, Forest Range Officer, Pernambut went to the spot to conduct investigation.

Mr. Krishnan told The Hindu that the cause of death of the goats is yet to be ascertained. No pug marks of a panther have been found anywhere in the village, he said. - Special Correspondent
