A teenager was murdered by her cousin at Thaazhamuthu Nagar here on Wednesday night.
Police said K. Maria Selvi alias Sathya (14), a 9th standard student from Vannaar Street in Thaazhamuthu Nagar, was murdered by a youth when she was alone in her house on Wednesday night. During investigation, police found that the victim’s cousin, Pradeep (22), working in a mobile phone shop in the same area, had murdered the girl.
When the police arrested Pradeep within a couple of hours, the culprit allegedly told the police that he was prevented from entering the house of Sathya as he allegedly peeped into her room and stared at her in an inappropriate manner on a couple of occasions.
Since Sathya’s mother took this measure after the girl informed her about Pardeep’s behaviour, he had murdered the teenager, the police also said.
