Girl falls out of auto, dies

Poor road condition and lack of safety measures claimed the life of a school student in Ambur on Tuesday.

Police sources said that Divyadarshini (7) studying in II standard in a government aided school in Ambur, was travelling in an autorickshaw along with her brother Lokesh and 15 other students.

When the auto driver Karthikeyan of Thuthipet applied brakes suddenly near Mottukollai on noticing the bad condition of the road, Divyadarshini was thrown out of the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries.

Divyadarshini was rushed to Government Hospital, where the doctors pronounced her ‘dead on arrival’. Divyadarshini’s father Munusami works as a loadman and her mother Padmavathi works in a private shoe factory in Ambur. On hearing the news about the death of their daughter, they became inconsolable.

The Ambur Town police have registered a case.
