Getting thrills from watching others play online games

In spite of being less understood by the non-gaming world, gamers maintain the experience is similar to watching a movie, with all the twists and turns

Some people are imagining and wishing that nasty things happen to Jimmy Kimmel just because he made fun of people who watch other people play video games.

YouTube recently launched a new platform YouTube Gaming, where gamers can live stream, post game plays and even add commentary while playing video.

Jimmy's point was why watch people play when they can play themselves. It didn’t go well with the gaming community and he was threatened and abused on social media.

To his defence, there are many who do not understand the thrill of watching people play video games online.

But those who use the platform say the experience is similar to that of watching a movie, with all the twists and turns.

It also helps them understand the game better. Pradeep Kumar, an ardent gamer from Chennai says, “You can analyse your performance and understand your mistakes if you watch yourself play after recording it. You can also watch other players play the same game and improve your performance.”

Considering that most of these games are expensive and not many can afford them, people have a chance to experience it all on Youtube, say gamers, who watch and play.

Online shopping in India is a growing phenomenon and one must give the due credit to the network operators of TV channels for that growth.

A recent addition is ‘Naaptol which is being screened on private TV networks.

Naaptol.com, a leading online shopping websites that hosts a variety of products from hundreds of different brands and they have launched a separate TV channel, which is being aired from June this year.

Another home shopping TV channel, Big Deal TV brought out by Raj Kundra of Rajasthan Royals, has been making its mark among the TV watchers as well as home-shopping lovers.

The 24x7 channel, has been on air from June 18, channel available free of cost across all cable as well as DTH platforms across the State, and online.

According to a release by the company, India’s home shopping market is currently valued at Rs. 40 billion, and is expected to grow five times by 2020. It will be the company’s second launch after Best Deal TV, a 24x7 Hindi home shopping channel launched earlier in March.

The other prominent players in the market are Bag It Today, HBN Telebrands, Planet M Shopping and TVC Retail. An early entrant was Tele Shopping Network.

In addition, e-commerce giant Snapdeal recently entered into a joint venture with cable distribution platform Den Networks to launch a television channel Den-Snapdeal TV Shop.

The game is with discounts, at the end of the day. These channels offer heavily-discounted prices and often throw in a freebie or two.

And for the customer, these days it's all about multiple modes - browse the Internet to check the best prices and book the most discounted product on the home shopping channels.

And then, they just have to get the cash ready and put their feet up until the product lands on their doorstep.
