District Collector K. Balasubramaniam has ordered the detention of R. Siva, 25, of Kulakarai near Chidambaram, under the Goondas Act for peddling ganja. Siva was arrested by the police recently in a robbery case and lodged in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
The police said Siva had 11 cases pending against him in various police stations in the district. Despite being arrested several times for peddling, he continued to indulge in the crime. Based on the recommendations of Superintendent of Police S. Sakthi Ganesan, the Collector ordered his detention under the Goondas Act.
The order was served on him in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
