‘Ganges’ is the theme at music fest

January 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - TIRUVARUR:

The music and dance festival organised by the Swami Dayananda Saraswati Educational Trust at Manjakudi near here on Wednesday featured vedic chanting, a lecture on the greatness of the Ganges, another on the temple architecture, and a vocal concert.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati called upon the youth to imbue knowledge of dharma and adharma quoting parables from the epics and legends. Swamini Brahmaleenanda during her speech sought to illuminate the divine acquaintances and their relevance to students. By means of atypical portraits, archaeologist Kudavayil Balasubramaniam took the audience on an odyssey through the Ganges. Kasthuri Ranga Bhattachar spoke on “Temple Architecture of South India _ Comparative Study of Styles” while Murali Dikshithar detailed the “Puja Methods and their Significance”. An enticing vocal rendition by Malladi Brothers rounded off the day's events.
