A four-year-old boy, who suffered from mysterious fever for a few days, died on Friday.

Health Department sources confirmed that the boy died due to lower respiratory track infection.

Srichand, son of Kannan of Ayyantirumaligai, was suffering from fever and cough for the last few days and was treated by a private doctor. With his condition worsening on Friday evening, his parents rushed him to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, where the doctors suggested his admission instantly.

The sources said that the parents, without admitting the boy, left the hospital. However, his condition worsened en route and he collapsed. He was rushed back to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

At present, two persons with A (H1N1) influenza and one with dengue are undergoing treatment at the special ward at the hospital.

The official teams would conduct surprise checks and stringent action would be taken against the violators.

The Collecor asked the private hospital managements to adopt the World Health Organisation provisions in treating patients with mysterious fever.

In case of death, officials would conduct inquiry and severe action would be taken if it was found to be due to negligence, she added.
