Four persons including two youths were killed in separate road accidents.
Police said Mohan (60) of Thaamirapathi Colony near Thiyagaraja Nagar was knocked down by a speeding bike when he was going for a morning stroll with his wife Malar Selvi on Friday. After being admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital with grievous injuries, Mohan died around noon. Police have arrested Vijayakumar of TVS Nagar, the bike rider.
In another accident, E. Saravanan (24) of Pudur near Maaraanthai under Alangulam police station limits was returning home in his bike on Friday night. When he was crossing Abhishekapatti, he lost control over the vehicle and sustained grievous injuries after falling on the ground at high speed. He died on the spot. In an accident near Sernthamaram, Jegan (28) of Velappanaadaanoor was killed in a road accident when the bike he was riding skidded off the road on Saturday. Vellaiyan (75) of Duraisamypuram near Shencottah was fatally knocked down by a speeding vehicle when he was returning home in his cycle from the field.
