Four killed in accident

Four people, including two children, died and four others were injured when the car they were travelling in fell into a ditch on Perambakkam Road in Kattur village near Sriperumpudur on Sunday. According to police, the accident took place around 8-45 p.m. when the victims were proceeding towards Perambakkam from Chennai in the car driven by Rajan (40) of Ashok Nagar.

Rajan reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve near Kattur junction and the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch. In the impact, Rajan and two children – Ranjitha (6) and Rasitha (4) — and 17-year-old Malini died on the spot. Four others – Trisha (3), Rajalakshmi (30), Kantha (50) and Mahalakshmi (34) were injured. All of them were on their way to attend a function at their relative’s house in Perambakkam, police said.
