Footfall at CSI Higher Secondary School Ground along Brough Road, the venue of the exhibition of handloom products conducted by the Department of Handloom and Textiles, is witnessing a gradual rise, according to officials.
The exhibition inaugurated by Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam on Sunday features a variety of handloom products including the sought-after cotton saris, and bed covers and spreads with jaipur prints.
Last year, the exhibition venue was VOC Park Ground where a business of Rs. 90 lakh was generated.
This time around, a target of Rs. One crore sale has been set.
A special rebate of 30 per cent is being provided to customers.
The advantageous location, sources said, would enable the department to even surpass the sales target.
A major extent of sales is expected during the first week of November.
The exhibition ends on November 8.
