Focus on reviving customer delight

June 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will strive to revive customer delight, K. Saju George, General Manager, said here on Thursday.

Addressing reporters here, Mr. Saju George assured that the shortcomings on the part of the BSNL would be sorted out. Basic landline and broadband services were affected due to digging of road by various agencies for laying pipelines and other purposes.

Officials and employees were motivated to attend promptly to the complaints of customers, he added.

The Union government had launched a ‘Digital India’ drive. To fulfil the government’s initiative, the BSNL was focusing on providing more broadband connections in the district. It had been planned to give broadband connection to the existing landline customers without any delay.

With a view to improving the broadband connection, a help desk number 12678 had been introduced by Nagercoil Telecom District . Customers could contact the help desk to resolve their complaints, Mr. Saju George said.

There were 67,500 landline connections in the district, of which 11,000 were disconnected/dormant in the last one year. Officials were taking efforts to offer reconnection of these numbers by giving out waiver of rent for dormant period.

Mr. George added that the free roaming facility offered by the BSNL from June 15 was advantageous to people frequenting Kerala and vice versa and those residing in the border area.

Wi-Fi hotspots

The BSNL had planned Wi-Fi hotspots at various places in the district – railway stations, bus stand, medical college and other important places –where people converged in large numbers. Customers could utilise high-speed internet connectivity in their electronic gadgets such as smart phones and laptops, he added.
