After a gap of about two years, flight services resumed from the Union Territory on Sunday with the launch of services between Puducherry and Hyderabad.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Minister for Public Works K. Lakshminarayanan, Minister for Civil Supplies J. Sai Saravana Kumar received Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who arrived at the airport on the inaugural SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Soundararajan said the Tamil Nadu government should concede the plea of the Puducherry government for allocation of land from their side since expanding the airport would help develop tourism in the State. She hoped that the Tamil Nadu government would soon come out with a positive reply.

“Puducherry should be linked to more capitals, and I have made a strong case in this regard during my discussions with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia,” she said.

The Lt. Governor also handed over a ventilator made by IIT-Hyderabad to Mr. Rangasamy. She said the institution had donated five ventilators to Puducherry, and she had brought one of them today.
