June 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

Five shops inside the Tirunelveli Junction bus stand were completely gutted when fire broke out on Saturday morning.

After power supply to these shops tripped on Friday night, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation personnel attended to the technical snag on Saturday morning.

Even as the work was going on, fire broke out in the shops forcing the personnel to snap power supply to the shops.

Two fire tenders from Palayamkottai Fire Station arrived at the spot and controlled the fire after a two-hour-long battle even as policemen, attached to Tirunelveli Junction Police Station, led by Inspector Raghupathi Raja, were regulating the movement of buses and controlling the crowd.
