Five persons, including three children, drowned in the sea near Simon Colony in Colachel and Sothavilai beach in Kanyakumari district on Saturday evening. An official attached to the Coastal Security Group (CSG) told The Hindu that three children hailing from Theni district Abilash (12) and Harish (10) and Vino Dharshan (6) drowned in the sea while playing on the shore near Kodimunai in Colachel on Saturday evening. The children came here to attend a family function of their relative in Simon Colony. Similarly, Nisha Priya (15) and Kevin (19) of Pechiparai drowned in the Sothavilai beach. The body of Nisha Priya was retrieved by the CSG. A search is on to fish out the body of three others.
