Five persons died in a road accident involving two cars on the Tiruchi-Madurai national highway on the city outskirts at Mekkudi cut road in the early hours on Wednesday.
All the victims were men.
Police said a car proceeding towards Madurai lost control and went over the centre median and dashed against another car that was coming in the opposite direction. Investigations are on.
