Five arrested on charge of gambling

The police have arrested five persons in two separate incidents on charge of indulging in gambling in Tiruvarur town limits.

Rajangam, Singaravel, Kalidoss, Mohan, and Sellakkannu of Agara Sirunallur near here when they were found engaged in gambling at Vellathidal area near their village.

Tiruvarur Town police arrested Srinivasan of Pulivalam Vishnu Thoppu when he was selling banned raffles tickets on the outskirts of Tiruvarur on Friday.

Further investigation was under way.

In Thanjavur district, Pattukkottai police picked up Subbaiyan (60) of Maliyakkaddu near Adirampattinam when he was selling banned lottery tickets near Adirampattinam.

Following a tip off, Adirampattinam police arrested Ravichandran (40) of Selliamman Koil Street when he was selling banned raffle tickets near Pazhamchetti Street near Adirampattinam.
