Fitting of LPG tank in two-wheelers unauthorised

Two-wheelers with auto LPG tank fitments is not an uncommon sight in the city.

There are quite a handful of two-wheeler riders opting for LPG as fuel for their two-wheelers, understandably to cut down fuel expense.

But, the question is whether the fitments are authorised kits. According to Transport Department officials, LPG conversion of two-wheelers is not authorised in Tamil Nadu.

Owners of such vehicles will be fined as they endanger themselves and other motorists as well, said Regional Transport Officer Ramalingam here.

The officials are concious of concealment of LPG tanks in the side boxes of two wheelers. Checks will be conducted to determine such concealment, Mr. Ramalingam warned.
