Farmers stage demo

October 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Tuticorin:

Demanding disbursal of entire quantum of compensation for crop loss, farmers from Kadambur area staged a demonstration here on Monday.

The district has received Rs. 32.46 crore for distribution as compensation to the farmers, who have suffered crop loss after insuring their crops and the compensation amount is being credited to the accounts of the farmers. However, the affected agriculturalists say that only 15 per cent of the total crop loss had been received and hence the compensation being disbursed to the farmers was inadequate.

The protestors later submitted a petition to District Revenue Officer S. Murugaiah.
