Farmers condemn ‘anti-people’ policies of Centre

Members of Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association took out a rally and laid a siege to the Head Post Office here on Monday condemning the anti-people policies of the Central government.

The rally started from Mengles Road and ended at the HPO after passing through the prime roads in the city. They demanded the implementation of 100-day MGNREG Scheme and appealed to the Centre to increase the number of working days to 200 and raise the wages to Rs. 400. Later, they laid a siege to the HPO.

50 persons arrested

Police arrested 50 persons who tried to enter into the office premises and released them in the evening.
