Farmer held for murder of AIADMK functionary

October 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - Tuticorin:

Vilathikulam police have arrested a farmer for allegedly beating to death a functionary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The police said that A. Sekar (53), a farmer from Kamalapuram near Vilathikulam, had married one S. Kalavathi, younger sister of S. Thangaraj (58), the area secretary of the AIADMK, from the same village. When a domestic quarrel erupted between the couple on Tuesday, Ms. Kalavathi made a complaint with Thangaraj.

Subsequently, Sekar’s sons reprimanded him for verbally abusing their mother.

Since Sekar suspected that his sons were supporting their mother only at the behest of Thangaraj, he went to his brother-in-law’s house on Wednesday morning and attacked him with a club.

Thangaraj died on the spot.
