Disbursed

Agricultural implements to the tune of Rs.45.66 crore were disbursed to farmers clubs in Shoolagiri under the State Government’s equitable growth fund by the district administration.

This entails State funds to the tune of Rs.35.65 crore as subsidy, and farmers own contribution of Rs. 9 crore, towards equitable growth of backward areas.

Distributing the agricultural engineering implements, Collector T.P. Rajesh said Shoolagiri was chosen due to its rain-fed agricultural and labour deficit. Small and marginal farmers organised farmers clubs in Kamanthotti, Sanamavu, and Enusonai.

Under the scheme, each club is being issued with a power tiller, two power weeder (petrol), two power weeder (diesel), harvester, and eight other ancillary agricultural implements.

The clubs may maintain the equipment out of the rent from hiring out the gadget to the farmers in the cluster, Mr. Rajesh said.
