Technology transformation plays a key role in life and pharmaceutical technology is very important for human beings, T. Senthilkumar, Dean, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology, said while speaking at the valediction of the two-week faculty development programme on ‘New perspectives in drug discovery and progressive technological developments (NPDPTD-2015),’ organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology. The knowledge gained by the faculty members through the programme should be shared with other faculty members and students to motivate them in research activities, he added. The programme attracted participants from Annamalai University, Bharathidasan University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Ethiraj College for Women, Sri Ramachandra University, SASTRA University, and Bharathidasan Institute of Technology. Lectures by experts in the field of drug discovery were a part of the programme. P. Senthamil Selvan, coordinator, NPDPTD, and K. Ruckmani, convenor, NPDPTD-2015, spoke.

Training programme

Around 35 PG students from colleges in and around Tiruchi participated in the ‘Summer Research Training Programme (SRTP ’15),’ organised by the PG and Research Department of Physics in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell, Bishop Heber College. D. Sastikumar, Professor of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, inaugurated the programme in the presence of D. Paul Dhayabaran, Principal, Bishop Heber College, Ally Sornam, dean, R & D, T. Kanna, associate dean, R & D, C. Ravidhas, convenor, SRTP, and K. Jothi Venkatachalam, Professor of Chemistry, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology. Lecture sessions by scientists and subject experts from Ireland and from various parts of Tamil Nadu and hands-on training sessions formed part of the week-long programme.

165 get offer letters

Offer letters were presented to 165 students of Kings College of Engineering, Punalkulam, who got placed in various companies, at ‘The Placement Day 2015,’ held at the college. T.R.B Rajaa presented offer letters to the students and motivated them to face challenges boldly. S. Durairaj, Principal, and D. Susan Felix, placement officer, were present.
