‘Explosion’ creates panic

January 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - DINDIGUL:

An explosion like noise created panic among people near Kalvar hills in Vedasandur block on Wednesday.

Glass panes and wooden and steel shelves in houses and offices vibrated in the impact of the deafening noise in Vedeasandur. It was felt in Vedasandur police station also and even in far away Dindigul Collectorate.

Similar but less intensive explosion was heard three months ago, people said. But this time it was unbearable, they added.

Meanwhile, revenue and police officials in Vedasandur inspected Kalvar hills and nearby areas but found nothing. Earlier, the police ruled out crash of a helicopter, terming it as a rumour.
