K. Guru files papers in Jayamkondam and Ko. Vi. Chezian in Tiruidaimarudur

THIRTEEN CANDIDATES filed their nominations filed their nominations papers in Thanjavur district on Monday.

DMK candidate Ko.Vi. Chezhian was the only candidate to file his nomination for Tiruvidaimarudur on Monday.

G. Anbazhagan, DMK and Pazha. Annamalai of BJP filed their papers for Kumbakonam.

M. Ramachandran of the DMK filed his nomination papers for Orathanadu. M.S. Ramalingam of the BJP filed his papers for Thanjavur while T.R. Loganathan of Congress filed his nomination for Papanasam constituency.

PERAMBALUR: Candidates belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) besides those from the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) filed their nomination papers in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts on Monday.

The former IAS officer and founder of the Samuga Samathuva Padai (SSP) P. Sivakami contesting on the DMK symbol filed her papers for the Perambalur (Reserved) Assembly constituency on Monday.

Accompanied by functionaries of the DMK and the Congress, Ms. Sivakami submitted the papers to the Returning Officer and Revenue Divisional Officer, Perambalur R. Baby in the afternoon.

Sixty-year-old Ms. Sivakami, a postgraduate, had served in the Government of Tamil Nadu and Union Government in different capacities for 28 years and took voluntary retirement in November 2008. She founded the Samuga Samuthuva Padai in 2009 to continue her public service.

In a brief interaction with reporters shortly after filing her papers, Ms. Sivakami said she would explain in detail, the DMK poll manifesto besides the works done by DMK president M. Karunanidhi, party treasurer M.K. Stalin, and the former Union Minister A. Raja for Perambalur while seeking support from the electorate.

As per her affidavit, Ms. Sivakami declared that the total value of her movable assets was Rs. 1,63,94,649 while the current market value of her immovable assets is Rs. 4,31,62,380. The total value of immovable assets of her spouse S. Anantha Chandra Bose is Rs. 70,38,801 while the current market value of immovable property is Rs. 1,22,58,000.

Ms. Sivakami, who resides in Palavakkam in Chennai, has neither government dues nor police cases against her as per the affidavit.

For the Kunnam Assembly constituency in Perambalur district, the DMK candidate T. Durairaj and PMK nominee G. Vaithialingam filed their papers.

An advocate, Mr. Durairaj in his affidavit declared that the total value of his movable assets and that of his wife both put together was Rs. 51,03,834 while the approximate current market price of his immovable assets and that of his wife put together was Rs. 3,15,92,580.

Mr. Vaithialingam of the PMK who discontinued B.Sc. has two cases pending against him although he has not been convicted. The gross total value of his movable assets and that of his wife was Rs. 4,43,8127 while the current market value of immovable assets was Rs. 1,09,25,500.

Guru files papers

ARIYALUR: Pattali Makkal Katchi nominee for Jayankondam assembly constituency J. Guru alias Gurunathan, against whom a string of cases were pending, also filed his papers.

Fifty-five-year old Mr. Guru has not been convicted although 19 cases in which charges have been framed by the court were pending, according to the affidavit submitted by him. The gross total value of his movable assets was Rs. 9,08, 7405, while the current market value of immovable assets was Rs. 11,88,4712.

DMK MLA and the party nominee for Ariyalur constituency S. Sivasankar also filed his papers.

Forty-seven-year-old Mr. Sivasankar has seven cases pending against him in which charges had been framed by the court. However, he has not been convicted in the cases. He has declared his movable assets Rs. 38, 53,581 while the current market value of immovable assets is Rs. 2,86,01,500.

KARUR: MDMK candidate of the Aravakurichi constituency G. Kalaiyarasan on Monday filed his nomination papers.

Accompanied by the leaders of DMDK, PWF and TMC, he took out a rally in the town before filing nomination with the Returning Officer Leelavathi in Aravakkurichi.

Similarly, R. Natarajan of Kongu Nadu Makkal Desiya Party filed his papers for the Aravakurichi constituency.

They were among 11 nominations received for three constituencies in the district.

Karur constituency received maximum number of nominations on Monday. It received six nominations, including K. Sivasamy of the Bharathiya Janata Party. Three candidates filed the nominations, including N.K.N. Shathakathullah of BJP and S. Ashokkumar of Kongu Nadu Makkal Desiya Party for Kulithalai constituency. Krishnarayapuram received no nominations.

TIRUTHURAIPOONDI: The DMK nominee for the Tiruthuraipoondi Assembly constituency P. Aadalarasan filed his nomination papers here on Monday. Mr. Aadalarasan filed his nomination papers with the Returning Officer Prem Kumar after reading out the oath and affidavit.

District DMK deputy secretary Ramakrishnan filed papers as the dummy candidate. DMK general council member Mavoor Sivasamy, union secretary Manoharan, Congress town president P.A. Ezhilarasan, Advocates’ wing district president Dharmarajan were present

PUDUKOTTAI: Thirteen candidates filed their nomination papers in different constituencies in Pudukottai district.

The list includes S.T. Ramachandran, a Congress nominee for the Aranthangi constituency and son of former Union Minister Su. Tiruvanavukkarasar. Mr. Tiruvanavukkarasar also filed the papers for the Aranthangi constituency.

The other candidates who filed their papers include M. Palaniappan alias ‘Puratchi’ Kavidhasan, the Bharatiya Janata Party nominee for the Gandarvakottai (reserved) Assembly constituency.

Nomination papers were filed in Viralimalai, Pudukottai, Thirumayam, and Alangudi constituencies.

NAGAPATINAM: DMK candidates S. Killai Ravindran and U. Mathivanan filed their nomination papers for Sirkazhi and Keezh Velur constituencies respectively in Nagapattinam district on Monday. P.V. Rajendran of the Congress and S.K. Vedarathinam of the BJP filed their papers for Vedaranyam constituency. A.B.hameem Ansari of Communist Party of India and Nethaji of the BJP filed their nomination papers for Nagapattinam constituency.

The DMDK candidate for Sirkazhi, R. Umanath, also filed his papers.
