Former Melur MLA R. Samy mobilised a massive crowd for a meeting at Melur near here on Monday, to protest against the Centre and the Delhi police for having “foisted” a case against AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran.

The meeting of Mr. Dhinakaran’s supporters comes at a time when AIADMK (Amma) had decided to keep him “completely away” from the affairs of the party.

Though local MLAs, Ministers and party district secretary (rural) V.V. Rajan Chellappa were not present at the event, Mr. Samy, party spokesperson ‘Nanjil’ K. Sampath and Karnataka unit secretary Pugazendhi spoke in support of jailed party general secretary V.K. Sasikala and Mr. Dhinakaran.

They lashed out at the Central government and AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) leader O. Panneerselvam for allegedly conspiring to weaken the AIADMK.

The three-time MLA also took a dig at State Ministers, including Finance Minister D. Jayakumar, who had claimed that Sasikala and Mr. Dhinakaran were no longer with the AIADMK.
