Essay writing competition on Smart City project

As part of seeking public opinion for the Smart City project, Salem City Municipal Corporation has invited citizens and stakeholders to participate in the essay writing competition.

Officials said that the main objective of the competition is to know the requirements, dreams and aspirations of the people of the city. Participants can submit entries in the following three topics, Major issues and challenges – maximum 150 words, proposed ideas to make the city Smart – maximum 150 words and how will Salem look like in the future according to you? – maximum 200 words.

Entries can be submitted by logging on towww.salemsmartcity.inby October 30.

The first prize for the best essay is Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000 for the second place, Rs. 10,000 for the third place and Rs. 5,000 for the fourth place. The corporation will evaluate the entries and top four essay will be given the above rewards.

Also, residents and stakeholders can participate in ‘My Salem – My Pride’ component and give their suggestions. Officials said that the corporation has to formulate its own unique vision, mission and plan under the smart cities challenge which has to be done in consultation with the residents and stakeholders. Hence, citizens and stakeholders are requested to share their views, opinions and area improvement suggestions.
