Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam will visit the memorial of freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Thevar at Pasumpon on the occasion of Thevar jayanthi on October 30, Minister for Information Technology M. Manikandan has said.

In a brief chat with reporters on Sunday after visiting the memorial and reviewing the arrangements for the110th birth anniversary and 55th guru puja (death anniversary) of the leader, he said the CM and the Deputy CM would pay homage at the samadhi in the morning.

They would address an official function in the evening, where Mr. Palaniswami would unveil the portrait of Muthuramalinga Thevar and distribute welfare assistances to beneficiaries. At least half a dozen Ministers would accompany them, he said.

Mr. Manikandan, who reviewed the preparations with Collector S. Natarajan and Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena, discussed the entry and exist points for the CM and other dignitaries.

The police should erect watchtowers, instal CCTV cameras at all strategic points and erect barricades to regulate crowd, he said. He also advised the district administration to make arrangements for drinking water and toilet facilities.

Paramakudi Sub-Collector B. Vishnu Chandran, District Revenue Officer S. Muthumari and DRDA Project Director S.S. Dhanapathy were also present when the Minister reviewed the arrangements.
