The Sports Performance Assessment Rehabilitation Research Counseling (SPARRC) Institute celebrated its 12th anniversary at Karnataka Sangha Higher Secondary School, T. Nagar, on Saturday.
E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of Telengana, presided over the event. He lauded the efforts put in by Kannan Pugazhendi, renowned sports physician, who, with his wife Sujatha, had set up the institute. “He is one of those rare doctors who, instead of scaring the patients, gives them comfort and confidence to heal. I wish him and his wife the best of success,” said Mr. Narasimhan. He also reminisced and shared insights from his days of getting to know the sports physician.
Dr. Pugazhendi, in his address, spoke about the institute and how they have trained thousands of professionals across their 13 centres in the country. .
As many as 21 people who have excelled in their respective fields across the country were given the ‘Pride of India’ award. The awardees included marathon runner Neville.J. Billimoria and Arjuna awardee Rachna Govil.
