While peahens are known to lay eggs in bushes and hillocks away from human habitat, it came as a surprise for farmer S. Rajendran when he found the eggs in his field.
On Saturday, when Mr. Rajendran was in the process of harvesting sorghum, he found a peahen incubating eggs right in the middle of the farm, situated alongside Tirupur-Uthukuli Highway near Mannarai. “It’s a surprise considering that peahens usually lay eggs in bushy areas,” Mr Rajendran said.
Mr. Rajendran left around 12 to 15 plants around the spot where the peahen had laid eggs, untouched.
