The Central Institute of Classical Tamil has proposed to translate Tirukkural into Gujarati language.
The translation will hit the stands soon, said M. Muthuvel, Registrar of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil.

He was delivering valedictory address at the 10-day Tamil research workshop organised by the AVS College of Arts and Science and sponsored by the Institute here recently.
Explaining various programmes and projects being sponsored by the Institute for the promotion of Tamil language and literary works, he called upon the educational institutions and other organisations to take full advantage of the same.

Thavathiru Ponnambala Adigalar, head of the Kundrakudi Mutt, in his special address underlined the importance of protecting Tamil language, literature, its tradition and cultural values and propagating the same among the present day younger generation.

This alone will pave for the progress of the future Tamil society. The youth should understand that Tamil is not only a language used to communicate, but also a weapon for spreading the worthy culture. The workshop was conducted on the topic ‘Tholkappiya Nokkil Sevviyal Ilakkiyangal’.
Renowned Tamil scholars including S. Sethupathi, member, Sahitya Akademi, handled the sessions on the ten days.
