Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for expanding the ambit of the PM-KISAN Scheme to include all eligible farmer families, irrespective of the size of the land they hold, and announcing a pension scheme for small and marginal farmers.

In his letter to Mr. Modi, the Chief Minister lauded the Centre’s decision to bear the cost of controlling the foot-and-mouth disease and brucellosis for the benefit of farmers.

“I also thank you for providing pension coverage to shopkeepers, retail traders and self-employed persons, which is certainly a path-breaking initiative. The above schemes will provide strong social security to large sections of our society,” Mr. Palaniswami said in the letter, a copy of which was released to the media.

These decisions of the Centre would be of immense benefit to farmers, traders, the self-employed and to society as a whole, the Chief Minister said.

He assured the Prime Minister that he would support these efforts by ensuring implementation of these schemes.
