June 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - SALEM:

The city police on Wednesday registered a case against 200 members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) for picketing the corporation office at Hanging Garden, and staging a protest.

Condemning the poor condition of city roads, the DYFI led by its State secretary R. Velmurugan, and district secretary N. Praveen Kumar picketed the corporation office on Wednesday.

They, later, met Corporation Commissioner K.R. Selvaraj, and explained about the pathetic condition of city roads that have turned death trap for road users. They sought an assurance from the commissioner that the roads will be re-laid.

Scheme works

The commissioner told them that roads could be re-laid only after completing all scheme works. Dissatisfied with the reply, they continued their protest, and raised slogans. The Commissioner lodged a complaint.
