DVAC seizes ₹2.26 lakh from sub-registrar


Sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department seized ₹2.26 lakh from a sub-registrar of Pallikonda registration office in Vellore on Monday.

Sources with DVAC team said the amount was collected by the official through brokers, who facilitated lands deals in Pallikonda registration office. On specific information, DVAC personnel set up a vigil on the said official Manikandan, 44, of Kancheepuram.

The DVAC officials intercepted the official’s car on his way home near the Walajah tollgate.

On searching the vehicle, they found ₹2,26,800 in cash for which the official could not provide any details. The sub-registrat was detained by the DVAC personnel.

The details of the investigation would be submitted to Inspector General of Registration Department in the next few days, said an investigating official.
