Dual power centre in AIADMK hurting governance: Congress

Ruling party trying to sail two boats at a time, says TNCC chief

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su. Thirunavukkarasar on Wednesday said that “dual leadership” in the AIADMK was hurting the ruling party and, consequently, the performance of the State government.

“The AIADMK is trying to sail two boats or ride two horses at a time. This is the cause of the troubles in the party, and is impacting governance in the State. If the party wants to achieve what it had set out to achieve, it cannot afford [to have] one leader for the party and another for the government,” he told journalists at the Coimbatore airport.

Joining issue with Union Minister of State for Finance Pon. Radhakrishnan’s claim that even if all the other parties were to join hands, they would not be able to defeat the BJP, the Congress leader said, “The chances of the BJP winning seats in Tamil Nadu are bleak, and it is a party that had been defeated [in the State].”

Hailing the elevation of M.K. Stalin as the president of the DMK, he said, “Mr. Stalin has risen through the party’s ranks and [has] also held various elected posts.”
