A 40-year-old doctor has lodged a complaint with the Katpadi police alleging that he was kidnapped by three unidentified men and robbed of Rs. one lakh on Tuesday.

Pradeep John Pramod, a resident of Karnampattu, was running a clinic at Gandhi Nagar. He told police that three men had approached him saying that the father of one of them was ill and wanted the doctor to come and treat him at home.

Ransom demanded

Following this, he reportedly went with them in his car at about 8.45 a.m. However, enroute, the trio told them that they have kidnapped him and demanded a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh. He told them that he did not have such a huge amount.

His car had developed some snag on the way and they had arranged for another vehicle. Police said the doctor reportedly carried Rs. one lakh in his car.

The trio robbed him of the cash and phone. They left him blindfolded at the New Bus Stand at around 11.30 a.m.

Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Katpadi police.
