DMK leader M. Karunanidhi is noncommittal about his party’s alliance for the next year’s Lok Sabha polls.

Asked whether the alliance with the Congress would continue, Mr. Karunanidhi told reporters here on Tuesday that the question did not arise as the talks on alliance had not yet begun.

When persisted with the question on the view that the DMK could join hands with the BJP, he said he could not indicate the party line on alliance openly. “It will depend on the situation,” he said when asked whether the agenda of the general council meeting would include anything else apart from the Lok Sabha polls.

When his attention was drawn to Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast demanding Jan Lok Pal, Mr. Karunanidhi said he was filled with both “hope and anxiety” about the protest.

As regards the Joint Parliamentary Committee report on the 2G scam, he said the DMK members in Parliament had staged a walkout from Parliament on the issue and he fully agreed with them.
