Rajya Sabha MP T.M. Selvaganapathy of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday surrendered before Judicial Magistrate – II (JM-II) in connection with two cases of violence during campaigning for the Yercaud by-election in the last week of November.

Judicial Magistrate – II S. Lakshmi granted him bail. He was booked under section 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 294 (b) (obscene act in public place), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
