Accusing the DMK and the Congress of betraying Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery water-sharing dispute, AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Tuesday said the two parties will lose the October 21 byelections to the Vikravandi and Nanguneri Assembly constituencies.

Canvassing for the AIADMK’s Nanguneri candidate, V. Narayanan, he alleged that the DMK, despite having excellent rapport with the erstwhile Congress regime at the Centre, did not take any steps to bring out a gazette notification on the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal’s final award. It didn’t show any interest in forming the Cauvery Water Management Authority either, he said.
