Gearing up for the proposed local body polls, the DMDK has invited applications from party cadres who aspire to contest in the elections.
In a statement, DMDK founder Vijayakant said that party functionaries, intending to contest the polls could obtain applications from November 15 from the respective district head offices. “Filled-in applications must be submitted before 5 pm on November 25,” he said.
The fee for those intending to contest for Mayor posts is ₹15,000 and it would be ₹4,000 for councillors in the wards in Municipal Corporations. While the fee for applying for the posts of Municipal Chairman is ₹7,000, it would be ₹1,500 for ward members posts.
The DMDK is expected to contest the civic polls in alliance with the ruling AIADMK.
