Discharge from Mettur Dam brought down as inflow dips

Following steep fall in the inflow, the discharge from Mettur Dam for samba cultivation activities in the delta districts was brought down on Monday.

About 10,000 cusecs was released from the dam for delta region till Monday morning and it was reduced to 8,000 cusecs in the evening.

The discharge from the dam for farm activities in Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts under the East-West canal scheme was also brought down from 730 cusecs to 500 cusecs on Monday.

The water level in the dam stood at 69.02 feet against its full level of 120 feet and the dam was receiving 3,793 cusecs of water. The storage stood at 31.865 tmc against the full capacity of 93.470 tmc.
