Braving the sun, a group of differently-abled persons observed a day-long fast near the District Collectorate here on Monday demanding implementation of three per cent reservation in government jobs in the State.

The protestors, under the banner Differently-Abled Munnetra Iyakkam, said that the court has ordered the government to provide three per cent reservation in jobs for them.

They have submitted petitions on September 15 and 22 demanding jobs. However, the State government failed to initiate any steps to provide jobs to the 26 petitioners, they said.

Protestors said that during the special camps held between July 23, 2014 and August 22, 2014 for the differently-abled, they had submitted petitions demanding job, monthly assistance, and bank loan to the Collector and other officials. But no steps have been initiated, they said.
