Diesel shortage hits bus services

June 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - BODI:

Owing to diesel shortage to the depot here, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus services were disrupted on Monday.

About 50 buses that were on road since morning started coming back to the depot one by one from 2 p.m. The drivers informed the TNSTC officials and parked their buses in the depot. Owing to a sharp cut in bus services, passengers were stranded at Bodi bus stand. Many mofussil bus services and those operated to villages were cancelled in the evening.

TNSTC sources said that oil corporations refused to supply diesel to the Bodi depot owing to non-settlement of dues for long.

The Bodi unit operates 170 buses within the State and eight buses to Kerala every day.
