People should get into the habit of saving money for a better future, Collector M. Ravikumar said while addressing a programme on World Savings Day organised at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School here on Friday. He said that even small amounts of money saved would create a safe future and such money could be used in times of emergency.
Several small savings schemes were available and once the people got into the habit of saving money they need not rely on others to meet their expenses.
He also distributed prizes to students, who excelled in elocution and essay writing competitions on small savings conducted as part of the celebration. Chief Educational Officer M. Ramakrishnan, Assistant Director Shanthi (Small Savings) and others attended.

Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan gave away prizes to students who participated in elocution and essay writing competitions held to mark the World Savings DayMr. Chavan called upon the parents to nurture the habit of saving among the children in their tender age.
