Develop self-confidence, young people told

Special speeches by school students and administering of pledge to students marked the National Youth Day 2015 celebrations at the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in the city on Friday.

 T. Stalin Gunasekaran, president of the Makkal Sinthanai Peravai, Erode, spoke on how Swami Vivekananda inspired the youths across the world and became their role model.

Swami Vivekananda was among the very few who achieved world fame at a very young age.

Mr. Gunasekaran also explained the achievements of Mahatma Gandhi, Thillaiyadi Valliammai, and freedom fighters who had won world recognition.

 He urged the students to leave no stone unturned to develop self confidence and self respect for achieving laurels in future. 

 At an interaction session, he later clarified the doubts raised by the students. About 10 students belonging to different schools from different parts of the district spoke on the life and achievements of Swami Vivekananda.

Pledge

 K. Vasantha, former Chief Educational Officer, administered the National Youth Day pledge to students and other members of the ashram. The pledge urged the younger generation to sacrifice themselves for the overall development of the country.

 S. Gunasekaran, principal, Sri Bharathiya Vidya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gurusamipalayam, presided over the function and Swami Yatatmananda, secretary of the ashram, offered felicitations on the occasion.
