To create a sense of security among commuters, Dindigul Regional Transport officials started pasting stickers containing details of the owner and the driver in all autorickshaws here on Monday.
Stern action would be initiated against autorickshaws that did not have such details, warned Regional Transport Officer Amritheeswaran.
The details would help the commuters lodge complaints in connection with excess fare, harassments and reckless driving, if any.
Above all, this measure would instil a sense of security among the commuters, especially women, who had often been facing problems while travelling in autos.
The stickers issued by the RTO office had details of the owner, his / her address with photographs and mobile numbers and also the name and address of the driver and driving licence number with badge number. The stickers were pasted on the rear side of the drivers’ seat for easy viewing by the commuters.
The RTO said that stickers would be pasted in all the 5,300 autos in the district, including 3,200 in Dindigul, on or before September 10.
“We covered a majority of autos in the town on day one. The rest would be covered shortly,” he added.
