Leftist cultural front orgainsations staged a demonstration in support of writer Perumal Murugan, who has been hounded for writing a novel ‘Madhorubagan’.
Certain religious and caste entities in Tiruchengode took strong exception to some controversial portions of the novel and burnt the copies of the book. The author was forced to move out of the town.

As part of their activities showing solidarity with the writer, Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists’ Association (TNPWAA) and Tamil Nadu Kalai Ilakkiya Perumandram (TNKIP) staged a demonstration here on Monday.
TNPWAA State Secretary S.Karuna, District President M.Balaji, Branch Secretary U.Krishnamurthi, TNKIP State Secretary P.Anubu, CPI(M) functionaries M.Sivakumar, M.Veerabadran and CPI district secretary Thangaraj were among those participated in the demonstration that held in front of the office of Revenue Divisional Officer.
