The government on Tuesday filed a defamation complaint against R.R. Gopal, printer, publisher and editor of Nakkeeran, Tamil bi-weekly, and its joint editor A. Kamaraj for publishing an article allegedly defaming Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangi.

In a complaint filed before the Principal Sessions Court in Chennai, the City Public Prosecutor M.L. Jegan submitted that a scrutiny of the article published in its edition dated December 5-7 revealed that “the allegations made against the Chief Secretary are totally false, malicious and derogatory.” The government has filed a defamation case against the weekly only in last week.
