The Swami Dayananda College at Manjakudi near here is organising a music and dance festival between Monday and January 27.
Noted epigrapher Kudavayil Balasubramanian will deliver a lecture on the Chola heritage, temple architecture, and the Ganga, while Poochi N. Selvam will speak on insects and farmers.
“Vishnu temple rituals” will be the topic of Kasturi Ranga Bhattachar’s lecture while Murali Dikshitar will share his thoughts on puja methods.
The role of women through the vision of the vedas and vedanta would be highlighted by Swamini Brahmaleenananda and Swamini Brahmaprakasananda and Dr. Radhika Soundarajan will deliver lectures on psychology.
Bombay Jayashri and Malladi Brothers will be the prominent musicians to perform during the programme. Dance by Shijith Nambiar, Kuchipudi performance by Jaikishore Mosali Kanti, and Odissi grand performance by Sonal Mansigh will be among the prominent among the other programmes.
A troupe from Kalakshetra, Chennai, will present Sita Swayamvaram .
Swami Dayananda Saraswathi will inaugurate the event in the presence of Sheela Balaji, Secretary, SDET.
Free transport arrangements had been made to bring rasikas from Tiruvarur and Kumbakonam.
The buses would start at 4.30 p.m. at Kumbakonam and Tiruvarur and the vehicle will leave Manjakudi for Kumbakonam and Tiruvarur at 8.30 p.m. daily.
The 11th convocation of the Swami Dayananda College would be held on January 25 in which N. Ravichandran, Executive Director, Lucas TVS, will give away the degree certificates to students.
