Crime Notes: poachers arrested

Three persons were picked up by Forest Department personnel for allegedly poaching a spotted deer in the forest areas near Karamadai. The accused M. Venkatraman (53) and his accomplices Suresh Kumar (33) and Prakash (27) of Aathi Mathaiyanur near Karamadai were caught red-handed with spotted deer meat. A fine of Rs. 20,000 was imposed on each of them.

During inquiry the personnel came to know that Venkatraman had a country-made gun in his house. On recovering the gun, the forest department handed him over to the Karamadai Police, who booked him under sections 20 and 30 of the Indian Arms Act. He was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
