Tiruchi-Tirunelveli Intercity Express suffered a delay of 45 minutes owing to crack of a welded point on one of the rails in Dindigul-Tiruchi section near Vadamadurai on Wednesday.
A few minutes after crossing Vadamadurai station in the morning, the electric pilot of Chennai-bound Vaigai Express heard a strange sound and alerted Dindigul railway station. However, the Vaigai Express crossed the spot and proceeded to Tiruchi without halting. The intercity train was stopped at Iyyalur railway station. Later, a technical team repaired the track temporarily and allowed the train to cross the spot. The intercity express left Dindigul railway station at 9.30 a.m., instead of the scheduled time of 8.45 a.m.
Later, the technical crew welded the fractured track and allowed all day trains to pass. Guruvayur Express and other day trains were operated as per schedule.
